Day 7 – Sea Day

Sadly this is our last day on the ship. Our clocks moved ahead an hour so morning came much sooner. After breakfast, hubby and I reported to Cyprus restaurant for the galley tour. We were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine prior to heading in to see where all the bread, pastries and desserts were made, where they separated all the food waste from recyclables. Interesting fact 85-90 of their waste is recycled. The food waste is ground up and while out to sea, is disbursed into the ocean to feed the fish. The plastic and metal is compressed and sold and those funds go to doing things for the crew such as parties, shore excursions, and specialty dining. All the bread is made by hand and all the food is made from scratch.

Just a couple of the different kinds of bread made onboard.
The chef giving us the tour and talking about all the bread.

Next stop wine tasting. We were given 4 tasting samples of wine, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Sommelier walked us through looking, smelling and tasting each one, looking for the different notes, discussing the regions and best temps for serving as well as what foods to pair with each.

After a brief stop at guest services to secure the easiest departure for little man, we all went to lunch. Then time to pack up which is my least favorite part of each trip.

As our final farewell for the evening, we went to the silent disco. This is where everyone wears headphones and controls which song they dance to. There were 3 different DJs playing music. Sometimes you could tell what the masses were listening to and other times it was just quiet with people dancing. Lots of fun and a great way to end the night and our cruise.
